Meet the Team

Jenny Macke

Faculty

MaED, Integrative Somatic Trauma Certification, Certified Bodyworker

Jenny is a soft and wild teacher. She is a nurturer and an edge walker.   Always willing to dive deep and seek the unexpected.   Tuning in with her heart, mind and belly she sees the web of interconnection, personally and collectively, that is such a necessary healing salve in our world today.  Making art, and deep connection to the natural world, feeds her soul and inspires her teaching each time she steps on the floor.

Jenny has been teaching Conscious dance and movement for over 25 years.   She has a Master’s degree in Leadership Education.  She founded Presence Studio in Bellingham, Wa in 2010 where a thriving community makes her heart sing.  She has been Executive Director of several non-profits supporting embodiment, nature connection and Rites of Passage as avenues for change to shift from a colonial, patriarchal, capitalistic focused world.

Open Floor Movement Practice is her modality of choice, where she loves to geek out as a working member and teacher trainer of this evolving organization.  Jenny contributes to the development of curriculum and training programs and travels internationally as a teacher.

In addition, Jenny has been a bodyworker who is infinitely fascinated by the fascia of the body and how it shape shifts and adapts for us to survive and thrive. Dreamwork, depth studies and prayerful healing trance are lifetime muses of study.  Her greatest daily influence is living on 14 acres by a wild river at a magical place called River Root Farm.  Waking to the sound of chittering eagles, witnessing the changes of the river, and feeling the song of the forest and mountains is having its wild way with her.

Majero Bouman

Faculty

MA, RSW, MSW, Psychotherapist

Majero is a poet, a cultural theorist, a mother, an artist, and a life-long dancer. She facilitates collective creative practices through mindful embodied movement, clay, words, colour, metal, and ideas. Her work is in service to cultural transformation, community responsibility, and self-awareness.  She believes that movement practice can connect us deeply to ourselves and others - in service to communion - making the intangible visible. Her students appreciate the grit, substance, and inspiration she brings to her work.  She is committed to making dance/movement accessible to people from all walks of life: the ordinary and the unconventional, those who dance and those who never knew they could.

Majero brings specialized experience in Open Floor Movement Practice through facilitating community-based research, series and sessions with economically disinvested populations, and as a researcher of in person and online somatic dance spaces. She creates with both Art in Motion and Therapy in Motion curricula. Majero is dedicated to lived and ongoing practice in anti-oppression frameworks.
